You know it's a bad year when an opposing coach piles onto your misery... before the game even starts.
On Sunday against the Redskins, Rams coach Jeff Fisher sent out six players for the coin toss, all of whom just happened to be selected in the 2012, 2013 and 2014 drafts thanks to the boatload of picks Washington sent to St. Louis in exchange for RG3. What a coincidence!
For the record, those six starters were: Janoris Jenkins, Michael Brockers, Zac Stacy, Stedman Bailey, Greg Robinson and Alec Ogletree. Of those guys, linebacker Ogletree is probably the one who stands out as being a future star (Stacy has had a disappointing season as a rusher, but receiver Bailey is starting to come along, and Jenkins and Brockers have showed promise as well). Point is, though, that's quite a statement.
The Rams went on to embarrass the Redskins further, beating them 24-0 at FedExField, but Fisher's little dig was what most people wanted to talk about.
"He was just showing people that they got the better end of that deal, and I think it motivated his team," says Ovie Mughelli of 120 Sports (and former All-Pro fullback with the Atlanta Falcons). "That's why players love playing for Jeff Fisher. I was talking to Eddie George once and he said of his former coach, 'All you gotta do is show him you're all in. If you fight for him, he'll fight for you.'"
