Emma Span is a writer and editor at Sports on Earth and the author of "90% of the Game Is Half Mental: And Other Tales From the Edge of Baseball Fandom." Most recently an associate sports editor at The Daily, she has also written for The Village Voice, The New York Press, Slate, Newsday.com and Baseball Prospectus. She graduated from Yale University with a degree in film studies and a love of both great and terrible movies. Having lost on "Jeopardy!" in 2009, she would like to make sure everyone knows that the timing on those buzzers is really tricky. She lives in Brooklyn with a well-meaning Labrador.
